Photo 101, leading lines: The Lone Ranger of the Balboa West

 I could not help thinking that this cactus plant is an actor in a Western flick.
The desert garden in Balboa Park, San Diego is a great spot to discover fifty ways to get poked. It was mind boggling to learn about the different shapes, sizes, and texture of cacti plants. But of all the cacti (yup, I got the tricky plural right) in the garden, this guy here stole the show.
